Sincere pause

Talking is a no brainer; conversation ebbs and flows. Yet the sea of words, despite the sheer volume, is often shallow. Oft discussed topics return, old friends that they are, in new clothes; subjects change, yet the same remains.
There is emptiness to the discourse, no matter how engaging. Nagging feeling pokes us in the side and bothers with shadow presence. The speedy trains of thought travel the well-trodden, time-worn tracks.
Sometimes though, magic happens. It is not pretty or smooth when music stutters and stumbles yet the opposite is true of conversation between two people. When the breaks and silence come out of weighty consideration instead of nervousness and lack of knowledge, it’s perfect.
